Ten values, drawn before they moved
Ten abstract words — reduce, focus, balance, value — had to become something you could see. They became ten symbols first, then a film where the words themselves stand in the world, behind the people living them.
The thinking first
The concept board. Each value was given a mark before a single frame was animated — the spiral for time, the lens for the auditor, the lotus for life, the half-disc for balance.
Highlights
Reduced ten abstract values to ten marks on one board — a spiral, a lens, a lotus, a gear — so the film had a vocabulary to animate rather than a list of words to caption.
Set the type in the footage rather than over it: each word is masked around its subject so a person walks in front of it, which puts the idea in the same space as the people it describes.
Cut on motion — each transition carries the blur of the shot it is leaving, so forty-nine seconds of separate scenes read as one continuous move.
Result
A programme about excellence that shows it instead of asserting it: ten words, each one earned by a frame of someone doing the thing. It closes on the line the whole piece exists to deliver — make the difference.
